Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
The Republic of India(India).
The National Rural Employment Guarantee in India is the largest rights-based public employment program in the world, providing 100 days of employment to 90 million rural workers each year. It is nationally funded with local and state governments playing a central role in deciding which work projects ought to be undertaken. This legally-guaranteed employment program is demand driven with protections in place to ensure the participation of women, people with disabilities, and other minority groups. The program has been an essential form of social protection for rural India where agricultural work is seasonal. See the MGNREGA program page for more details.Visit Site
